Any Asteroid

The degree of any asteroid — by name or by number — for any moment and any place. Positions come live from NASA’s JPL Horizons ephemeris and are given in both zodiacs: the tropical degree, and the sidereal degree with its sign, nakṣatra and pāda under the Lahiri ayanāṁśa.

Type a name (Ceres, Chiron, Sedna) or a number (433 is Eros) — anything in JPL’s small-body database. The longitude is geocentric and apparent, of date: the convention astrological software uses. The place only fixes the local time and its offset from UT, since a geocentric longitude is the same wherever you stand. The sidereal degree is the tropical degree minus the true Lahiri (Chitrapakṣa) ayanāṁśa, computed in your browser by the same engine as the Pañchāṅga, which agrees with Swiss Ephemeris to within 1″. The asteroid and the moment are sent to the ephemeris service to be looked up; nothing is kept.
